WiFi Analyzer+ Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026

1. Who we are

WiFi Analyzer+ (package name wifianalyzer.plus) is published on Google Play by the developer Lean StartApp ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at gosomatu@gmail.com (see Contact).

2. Summary

3. Location permission

The app declares ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION. Android requires location permission before any app can list nearby Wi-Fi networks and read their names; without it, the system returns an empty list. We use this permission only for that.

The app does not use it to find your coordinates or to work out where you are. Scan results (network names, BSSIDs, signal strength, channel, channel width, security type) are shown on your device and are not sent to us or to anyone else.

The app asks for this permission only when you open the network list or want to see a network name, never at first launch. You can revoke it at any time in Android settings; the features that do not need it keep working.

4. Nearby devices permission

On Android 14 and later the app uses NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES to read how many Wi-Fi networks are on each channel. The channel occupancy chart and the channel suggestion are based on these counts. This permission belongs to the Nearby devices group, not to the location group, and the app declares it with the neverForLocation flag, which tells Android that the app does not derive your physical location from it. The app asks for it only when you choose to see channel occupancy.

5. Wi-Fi and network state

ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE let the app read whether Wi-Fi is on, read your current connection (signal strength, frequency, channel, link speed, Wi-Fi standard, security type, IP address, gateway, DNS) and ask Android to start a Wi-Fi scan. These values are shown on screen and are not sent anywhere.

6. Internet access

The app's Wi-Fi features work offline. INTERNET is used by the Google services described below: ads, the consent form, analytics, crash reports, remote ad settings and Google Play purchases.

7. Approximate location

The app itself does not determine, store or use your approximate location. The advertising SDK and the analytics SDK receive your device's IP address as part of their network requests (see Ads and Analytics).

8. Identifiers

The Google Mobile Ads SDK adds the AD_ID permission and the Android Privacy Sandbox permissions ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION and ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS. With them the SDK can read your device's advertising ID and app set ID and use the Privacy Sandbox APIs for ad selection and measurement. Firebase uses an app-instance ID (Analytics), a Firebase installation ID and a Crashlytics installation UUID. None of these identifiers contain your name, phone number or email address. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.

9. Ads (Google AdMob)

The free version shows banner ads and app open ads; it shows no interstitial ads. Google AdMob collects your device's IP address, your advertising ID and other device identifiers, your interactions with ads (such as app launches, taps and video views) and diagnostic information, and shares this data with Google for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. Google describes its use of this data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. If you buy Remove ads, the app stops requesting ads.

11. Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

The app records usage events: screens and sessions, whether a permission prompt was answered, when a channel suggestion was shown, when the network list was exported (as a row-count range), when a network name was saved, when Ad privacy options were opened, and purchase events, which include the product ID, product name and price. Analytics also uses the app-instance ID and the advertising ID and receives your device's IP address. Events never include network names, BSSIDs or scan results. In regions where consent is required, analytics collection starts only after you consent through the consent form.

12. Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)

If the app crashes, Crashlytics sends the stack trace, the relevant app state at the time of the crash, device information (such as model and OS version) and a Crashlytics installation UUID, together with two app values: which screen was open and which permission level was active. Crash reports are not tied to the consent form, because we need them to keep the app working (legitimate interest, see Legal basis).

13. Diagnostics

The Google Mobile Ads SDK sends information about app and SDK performance, such as app launch time. Firebase sends app and device information (package name, OS version, SDK version, network connection type, device manufacturer and model) and the time a session started. Firebase Remote Config, which lets us adjust ad settings without an app update, receives the country code, language code, time zone, OS version, package name and the Firebase installation ID so that settings can be targeted.

14. Purchases

Remove ads is a one-time purchase processed by Google Play. We never see your payment card details. The app receives the purchase status for this product from Google Play (via com.android.vending.BILLING), checks its signature on your device and keeps the result on your device. Google Analytics for Firebase records purchase events as described in Analytics.

15. Install referrer

BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE lets Google Analytics for Firebase read the Google Play Install Referrer, that is, which store page or campaign led to the install. It is used only to attribute installs in analytics.

16. Background work

WAKE_LOCK and FOREGROUND_SERVICE are added by Google and AndroidX libraries so that they can schedule their own uploads. The app does not scan for Wi-Fi networks in the background and does not run a foreground service of its own.

17. System permission used internally

wifianalyzer.plus.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION is created by the AndroidX library to protect the app's own internal messages from other apps. It gives access to no data.

18. Data stored on your device

Names you give to access points are stored only on your device and are not included in backups. The app also keeps a few settings and the purchase status on your device. A network list export is created only when you tap Share, and it goes only to the app you choose in the Android share sheet. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app deletes all of this.

19. Retention

Google Analytics event data is kept for 14 months. Crashlytics crash reports are kept for 90 days. Data collected by Google AdMob is kept according to Google's policies. Data on your device is kept until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.

21. Recipients and international transfers

The recipients of the data described above are Google LLC and its affiliates (Google AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Remote Config, Google Play). Data may be processed in the United States. These transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

22. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time (Settings > Ad privacy options) without affecting earlier processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. To exercise your rights, contact us; because we run no server of our own, we will pass your request to Google where the data is held by Google.

23. Children

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

24. Security

The Google SDKs in the app send data over encrypted connections (TLS). The app has no server of its own, scan results stay on your device, and purchase results are verified on your device.

25. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed.
